Lesley Karen Luscombe ^ Agree. Bait dogs do not survive; they are not meant to survive. This is a cynical ploy to get people to pity both 'bait dog' AND the 'poor doggies that are forced by cruel men to fight'. ( aren't these poor dogs victims Lesley?)

This is a symptom to the problem. Florida's half ass enforcement of dogfighting.
This is how Florida deals with protection of our pets

A Central Florida rescue group says it's doing everything it can to help a young dog survive after he was found chewed up in a field in west Orlando on Monday.

  • Hork Cheung What's wrong with people who engage in dog fighting!
  • Cheryl Brown Oh bullhocky. If the dog had been used as "bait" for training dog fighting it wouldn't be alive. Fight bred dogs don't need practice to bite, they just need practice on how to kill. I'm not saying the dog wasn't mauled, Just that in all probability it was a yard fight, someone's pet pibble, possibly it's own mother or littler mate.

  • Raven Brooks This sucks. And he is a pit mix. Should have been put down. because he was a rescue in critical condition and will costs thousands of dollars that are need by shelters and rescues to feed and rehome healthy dogs and dogs more suitable for adoption that are not pits or pit mixes. That fact that he is half pit should weigh in also. And this is a really nice dog which makes the whole situation worse and people should feel sorry for him and tell his story. Not his fault. The whole situation sucks.

  • M.j. Brandt I came across this site, facebook page is Adore Houston. Abuse to animals makes me sickened and angry, but the amount of $ spent on "fixing" some of these dogs is unreal. Estimated cost to "fix"Apollo is $8,000 to $10,000. So many pets and families could be helped with that amount of $. Abuse is wrong, but trying to save every abused animal is wrong too. In my opinion. http://hendrickboards.com/save-apollo-ar...

  • Raven Brooks I agree with M.j.M.j. Brandt. Pitbull or not some animals should be put down because they should not have to live wth the extent of their injuries and the pain and discomfort of recovery. The money spent could keep so many homeable animals from getting euthanized in shelters. Sometimes it is appropriate to put the animal down. I do not care what breed this is. So we should let force him to live with this because we can ? That sounds more like playing God than putting him down. Its a mercy euthanisia. Not like putting a perfectly healthy animal to sleep because his time at the pound is up. That is throwing away a life. Not putting this animal down.
